FOXBORO — It seems that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has put some thought into which players would make his own personal “all-time team.”Belichick was asked about Rodney Harrison, who was recently announced as one of the 15 modern-era finalists for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and casually mentioned that the retired safety would be on his all-time team.Belichick wouldn’t list off the whole roster — he did say we would be getting that someday — but he did note that quarterback Tom Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebacker Lawrence Taylor and special-teamer Matthew Slater would make the cut.Related ArticlesNew England Patriots | Patriots get good news at Friday practice before Bills game New England Patriots | Patriots mailbag: How to acquire QB of the future while falling down draft board New England Patriots | Position switch has paid off for Patriots impending free agent New...Patriots get good news at Friday practice before Bills game

TORONTO — New Year’s Eve will look much different this year on CBC-TV.Canada’s public broadcaster tells The Canadian Press that “financial pressures” have led the network to cancel this year’s countdown, which inched towards midnight with musical performances and a fireworks show. This year, CBC plans to air a new “Just For Laughs” special hosted by comedian Mae Martin at 11 p.m. in most markets, followed by episodes of “Comedy Night with Rick Mercer” as the new year rolls in. The programs will also stream on CBC Gem.It’s a notable change for CBC, which has long been a reliable stop for viewers on the momentous night. For more than two decades, the Royal Canadian Air Farce hosted a New Year’s Eve special until it was cancelled in 2019.CBC continued in the years after with a cross-country broadcast that included performances from popular Canadian musicians situated in cities across Canada. OTTAWA — Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge says she wants the role of the public broadcaster redefined before the next federal election.St-Onge says in a year-end interview with The Canadian Press that the time is now to update CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate, to hedge against a possible change in government. She says the Liberal government believes a strong public broadcaster strengthens democracy and is promising to keep supporting it — adding she believes a Conservative government would destroy it.The Opposition Tories, who didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, have promised to defund CBC and turn its Toronto-based headquarters into housing. The federal Liberals have been promising for years to update CBC’s mandate to meet the modern needs of Canadians, even as the news industry faces job cuts and declining ad revenue, including recently announced cuts at the public broadcaster.St-Onge says she would like the new mandate to fill information gaps in loca...Man tried to disarm officer during struggle at Richmond Hill hotel: police

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Maine has now become the second state to remove former President Donald Trump from the 2024 Republican presidential primary ballot. Maine’s secretary of state announced the decision on Thursday night citing the same provision Colorado’s Supreme Court used less than 10 days ago.Section 3 of the 14th Amendment prohibits anyone who “engaged in insurrection” from holding office. Both rulings concluded that Trump had done so leading up to and on January 6, 2021, according to the context and understanding of Section 3.What are Trump’s arguments?Trump’s lawyers argue that courts and state officials do not have the authority to disqualify him. They also charge that Trump was not given due process, meaning he was not given a proper, fair trial. Finally, they claim that Trump was not an “officer” of the United States while serving as President, and therefore has never “taken an oath…to support the constitution” as stated in Section 3.
